10 Remarkable Facts About 2015's Biggest Movies

9. Remote Control Cameras Were Used To Make The Sex Scenes More Intimate - Fifty Shades Of Grey

Say what you want about Fifty Shades of Grey, but the film was nowhere near as bad as the book. To have even made a film that is mostly bad but still not insufferable, having adhered to E.L. James' novel rather closely, is a testament to director Sam Taylor-Johnson. Basically, though, Fifty Shades of Grey consists of relentlessly dull scenes in which crude sexual innuendos are flown about, followed by Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan having less explicit - and far less graphic - sex than they do on the page. The sex scenes are fairly tasteful, all things considered, and in places they even feel intimate. Who knew? One of the techniques that Taylor-Johnson used to ensure that the sex scenes had a private and confidential feel to them saw the director opting for remote control cameras. That way, Johnson and Dornan could get down to the nitty gritty without fifty-two people and a fat guy holding a boom mike all staring at them. To be fair, it did rather enhance the mood.
