10 Ridiculous Film Stories Everyone Believed (But Were Actually April Fool's)

2. Little Miss Sunshine & Garden State In 3D

Fox Searchlight regrettably did not elect to archive their amusing - and scary - April Fool's Day prank, which announced that Little Miss Sunshine and Garden State would be getting 3D re-releases. It's funny because it's believable; just look at our multiplex cinemas chock full of 3D films now and it's plain to see how pervasive the trend has become. We all joke about how studios will eventually end up releasing dramas like The King's Speech in 3D in a quest to squeeze viewers out of more money, and as such this announcement was like our worst cinematic nightmare come true. Even now, if a studio made this announcement on any day other than April 1st, I would not at all be surprised. Though one admires Fox Searchlight for taking a pot-shot at the industry at large, it's ironic given that their parent company is contributing to the mess themselves.
