10 Ridiculous Horror Movie Villains That Shouldn’t Have Worked… But Did
1. Gregory Tudor - Ice Cream Man (1995)
Starring prolific horror actor Clint Howard as a deranged ice cream man, unapologetically campy ‘90s horror The Ice Cream Man has garnered a cult following over the years for its zany presentation which borders on being so-bad-it’s-good in the best possible way.
After witnessing the death of his local ice cream man as a child, Gregory Tudor aspires to become a purveyor of the frozen treat himself one day. And when he’s released from a psychiatric hospital after years of agonising treatment, he’s finally able to make his dreams a reality. What his satisfied customers don’t know, though, is that the special ingredients in his confectionaries are the dismembered parts of his murder victims.
With its cheap effects, schlocky plot, and no shortage of corny lines, it’s easy to see why this flick has found its way into cult circles. But if it has one redeeming quality, it’s Howard’s performance as the killer ice cream man.
Expertly walking the line between funny and sinister, Howard has the time of his life in every scene. Watching him perform a puppet show with two dismembered heads is fantastically gross and simultaneously ridiculous. There are simply not enough villains like Gregory out there.
