There are plenty of animals out there already fearsome enough to make for convincing horror villains. Sharks, bears, alligators, spiders, and a rabid dog have all become genuinely threatening big screen monsters. One animal that we weren’t expecting to be the focus of a creature feature, though, were sheep.

When Henry (Nathan Meister), who has a severe phobia of sheep following a childhood trauma, returns to the family farm to sell his half to his brother (Peter Feeney), he realises that his fears aren’t as irrational as he thought. Unbeknownst to Henry, his brother has been working on experiments to turn the sheep into carnivores. And when environmentalists inadvertently release one of these experiments, the farm is overrun with mutant sheep with a hunger for flesh.

Chaos and hilarity ensue as the survivors fight back against the ravenous flock. Written with a sharp wit as fierce as the animals’ bite, there’s a lot of fun to be had in this self-aware horror. Despite as wickedly funny as events get, though, the sheep nevertheless remain a genuine threat throughout the film.

Partly due to their enormous numbers alongside the gleefully gory special effects, you'll never see sheep the same way after watching this flick.
