Guy Ritchie's new spy comedy Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre was shot in the early months of 2021, yet had its release curiously delayed until this past March in most of the world, more than a year after its original intended release date.

Though some initially suggested the delay was due to pandemic-related issues, it later transpired that it was because of the film featuring Ukrainian gangsters as villains, and Russia launching a full-scale invasion of Ukraine when its original release date loomed.

There were even rumours that the film was being re-edited to remove the Ukrainian gangsters completely, given general global support for Ukraine throughout the conflict and the feeling that a movie featuring them as villains would be poor timing if not poor taste.

Yet ultimately Operation Fortune finally came out with its Ukrainian villains kept very much in tact, and nobody much cared. It probably helped that they were relatively forgettable as antagonists go, admittedly.
