10 Ridiculous Movie Controversies That Went Nowhere
3. Linking The Movie To Armie Hammer - Bones & All
Luca Guadagnino's new cannibalistic horror-romance Bones and All was basically the victim of a rather unfortunate association with one of Guadagnino's past collaborators, Call Me by Your Name star Armie Hammer.
Serious sexual abuse allegations were levelled against Hammer throughout 2021, at which point it was also alleged that Hammer had a cannibalism fetish.
And so, as predictably as clockwork, when it was revealed that Guadagnino's new film was centered around cannibalism, many noted the peculiar coincidence of subject matter, as if to imply that Guadagnino could somehow have meant it to happen.
Even ignoring the fact that Camille DeAngelis' source material was released way back in 2015, Guadagnino was forced to go on the defensive and insist that his film adaptation had been in the works for many years. Shortly before the film's release, the writer-director said in an interview:
"Any correlation with this kind of innuendo and silliness is preposterous."
That this even had to be is, of course, absolutely ridiculous.
