10 Ridiculous Movie Moments That Made Everyone Irrationally Angry

Much of the criticism of the sex scene between Night Owl and Silk Spectre II is just how, well, awkward it is. A version of Hallelujah performed by Leonard Cohen fills the air as Patrick Wilson and Malin Akerman’s naked bodies collide. Fans argued that the scene felt out of place and added little, if not nothing, to the plot.

Zack Snyder is one of the filmmakers who’s earned the “visual director” title that accompanies his name on movie trailers and for good reason; his films are usually style over substance. Dawn of the Dead, 300, and Watchmen all feature sex/nudity that attributes nothing to the story but is pleasing to look at, not just in an arousing way.

The scene is stylish and, sure, a bit intense at times. Snyder easily could have had them kiss and then cut away and have the sex take place off-screen, but when has he ever let up an opportunity to show off his signature flare. If you don’t like Zack Snyder you won’t like the scene, but those who appreciate the director’s polish have surely found the splendor in it.
