10 Ridiculous Movie Plots That Sound Like Fan Fiction (But Are Real)

9. The Expendables

Someone in Hollywood woke up one morning, ate their bowl of iron shavings, and decided to make one wild, action movie. Face it, The Expendables is a testosterone fest that only a fan of these stars can think up. The film is the who’s who of awesome guys with huge muscles.

The cast for this movie included: Terry Crews, Steve Austin, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, and Sylvester Stallone. If it sounds like a full cast, that’s because it is. Some great actors went unmentioned there.

If you think the cast is ridiculous, then check out the plot. It rushes through the emotional beats like a kid finishing his paper while chugging Mountain Dew. In other words, nothing about the story makes any sense. Of all the fan fiction elements in this movie, that’s the most prominent aspect. The whole story hinges on one member of the team being exiled as soon as the film starts. Of course, as things get worse off for The Expendables, he comes back and redeems himself. It's the kind of simplified story audiences only see in full-tilt action movies and fan fiction.
