10 Ridiculous Reasons Why Oscar Voters Picked Their Winners

6. Best Make-Up Goes To Dallas Buyer€™s Club Because The Actors €œReally Look Like They€™re Dying€

Sticking with the 2014 Oscars, let's take a look to the executives branch, where a voter has no time to even try pronouncing the name Barkhad Abdi ("I'm voting for the Captain Phillips guy") and confirms what you all suspected about the problems voters face when deciding on those Sound Editing and Sound Mixing winners ("Should I vote on these?... I mean, what was mixed and what was edited?"). Most interesting is his take on Dallas Buyers Club, however, a film which he thought was "just a good, solid movie" with a notable performance by Matthew McConaughey. But while ultimately he gave Buyers Club the top spot in just one category - Best Make-Up and Hairstyling - he made that choice based on how physically ravaged McConaughey and co-star Jared Leto appear in the film. "They really look like they're dying!", is his verdict, and you can't argue with his logic there.
