5. Unexpected Pregnancy - Midnight Sky

As the buck normally stops with them, being a director can be a stressful job. Because of this, nobody usually takes issue with them pre-planning and micro-managing every little detail. And when an on-screen star like George Clooney decides to step behind the camera, you'd expect that to intensify tenfold.

Well actually, not so much. While making Midnight Sky, Clooney showed a remarkable ability to roll with the punches and adapt according to the actors he worked with. He already let David Oyelowo change his character's name and maintain his British accent, but his biggest adjustment had to be in handling Felicity Jones' pregnancy during the shoot.

Granted, he did follow the directorial instinct to try to hide the bump at first. For it to be removed in post-production, each of her scenes had to be shot three times; one with Jones, one with a stunt double and one with no one in her place. Only then are the visual effects team able to seamlessly blend all three shots to effectively mask the pregnancy.

Unsurprisingly, this only lasted a week, before attempting to "work it into the story". Whether they were successful in doing so is another matter altogether.
