8. Police Shutdown The Set - Amsterdam

From endless take counts to insane budgetary demands, directors tend to become a tad obsessive. Add a leading actor who’s just as compulsive as them in the mix, and that’s just a recipe for producer nightmares.

Case in point, the final day of shooting for David O. Russell’s latest film, Amsterdam. As actress Margot Robbie recounts, David and his star, Christian Bale, were completely locked in the zone in front of and behind the camera. So much so that David wouldn’t call it “cut”.

What’s wrong with going longer on the last day? Well, the curfew on the permit they obtained for filming in Pasadena, California, had expired. And it didn’t look like anyone was clearing out anytime soon, sending producers into a complete meltdown.

In the end, Pasadena police had to get involved. They got among the actors on the set, struggling to shut the production down. In particular, a policewoman struggled to find the right words until finally yelling, “It’s a wrap!” and prompting everyone to start packing up their equipment and going home. So, remember to keep your filming permits in order the next time you film unless you want someone else to wrap filming for you.
