10 Ridiculous Times Horror Movie Franchises Jumped The Shark

If you thought the last act of Insidious was too goofy, you have no idea how much worse it could have been. Look no further than Insidious: Chapter 3, and awful sequel that instantly took a chilling franchise into camp territory.

In Chapter 3, the daughter in a new family contacts Elise about the spirit realm, but Elise doesn't do that anymore. She reluctantly agrees to help, but she's worried about going into The Further, so she contacts her friend Carl. He gives her the brilliant advice that she should remember that she's stronger than the ghosts. Oh, okay then! Elise is now extremely confident, and so when a spooky ghost attacks her, the movie actually cuts back to Carl saying "you're stronger than them!" With that groundbreaking information, Elise punches the ghost and it goes flying across the room like a cartoon. She then slits another demon's throat and straight up fights the main villain by herself. Never before was any character able to fight back like this, yet Elise suddenly has all these powers because Carl reminded her to be confident. 

This movie is a prequel, so is there any reason Elise never used these magical powers in the other movies? Nope. In just a few years, Insidious has gone from one of the most terrifying horror franchises of the century to one of the silliest.
