10 Ridiculously Awful Sequels To Classic Movies You Didn't Know Existed

2. The Birds II: Land's End

American Psycho 2
Universal Pictures

More birds. That's clearly what horror aficionados and casual Hitchcock fans were clamoring for in 1994. Honestly, who was this made for? Audiences who had become accustomed to the much gorier horror films of the 80s? Those who enjoyed the clever yet visceral nature of Silence of the Lambs and Cape Fear? Tell me who!

Although this is technically considered a sequel, it plays more like a tedious remake. And despite Tippi Hedren - who, for some reason, plays a completely different character this time around - showing up on set for a few days to collect a pay-check, absolutely none of the magic or legitimate terror from the original shows up with her.

Neither does any sense of narrative cohesion. Aside from Tippi's random character swapping, there's also the small matter of wiping every single plot point from the first movie from existence.

Just how bad was this sequel? Director Rick Rosenthal opted to use the classic Hollywood pseudonym Alan Smithee to hide his involvement with the picture. (Which obviously worked.) Hedren referred to it as "absolutely horrible" and that it "embarrasses me horribly."
