10 Ridiculously Expensive Movies That Blew Their Budget

7. Quantum of Solace

Quantum Of SolaceBudget: $200 million What We Got: The 2007-2008 Writer's Strike certainly didn't help this one at all, but it still doesn't really explain why Quantum of Solace managed to cost so much money compared to both Daniel Craig-starring Bond films it is sandwiched between; Casino Royale and Skyfall both cost roughly $50 million less, so where exactly did all that extra cash go? It certainly wasn't on the screen, because aside from being the shortest Bond film in history, Quantum was also close to 40 minutes shorter than either of the other Craig films, which should surely account for a significant amount of money less that it should have cost. While the Strike no doubt incurred its own costs, it's just incredulous to believe that such a piecemeal final product could have cost so much in comparison to its vastly inferior predecessor and successor. Craig freely admitted that due to the strike, he and director Marc Forster had to tweak the script themselves, and boy, does it show or what?
