10 Rock Star Movie Cameos You Never Noticed

9. Michael Penn - Boogie Nights

michael penn Michael Penn is known for many things. He is the brother of actors Sean Penn and Chris Penn. He is also the husband of singer-songwriter Aimee Mann which makes them a singer-songwriter power couple. His song, 'No Myth' is probably his most popular song hitting the Billboard Hot 100 in 1989. He was also Nick the sardonic engineer in Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights. In his short scene, Nick is engineering Dirk's (Mark Wahlberg) pop star debut as he strains to sing 'The Touch'. Why Dirk decides to sing the theme song from the animated movie, The Transformers (which broke millions of boys little hearts when Hasbro killed off half of the characters to bring in new toys) is still a mystery. Nick, the engineer, however is not amused (although he is amusing in his ode to Miami Vice jacket) by Dirk's concern with bass over vocals.
