In the second vampire film on this list (and yes, the final vampire film, Twilight will not be making an appearance here), Let the Right One In recounts the adventures of the young Swede Oskar and his friendship with his new neighbor. She's immediately intriguing, standing outside barely clothed in the freezing cold and able to demolish a Rubik's cube within moments. This is a seemingly perfect match for Oskar, who yells at and stabs trees. But something is amiss with his new pal Eli. She lives with an older man named Hakan who is of dubious history but is certainly not this girl's father. He kills people for her, so that she may feast on their blood. Eli, after all, is a multi-century-old vampire. As Eli and Oskar's friendship strengthens, Oskar's run-ins with bullies at school get worse. He deafens one of his tormentors while out ice-skating during school. The boy's older brother opts for revenge, submerging Oskar's head underwater and says if he can't hold his breath for long enough, he'll cut out an eye. While Oskar is below the surface, Eli comes to his aid, dismembering Oskar's bullies and leaving a severed head to float in the pool. She's a pretty cool girlfriend if you don't mind the subtext that she's actually a castrated boy.
