2. Andie and Ben - How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days
This is a rare occasion in which I'm awarding both romantic leads with the Major Douche award. Because seriously, the behavior that Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey exhibit in this film is nothing short of sociopathic. Did neither of their parents teach them that you just don't treat people that way? So basically what happens is that they both work for magazines (a surprising amount of rom com characters are in publishing, despite the downward trajectory of the industry as a whole). Kate decides to write an article about all the things you can do to make a guy break up with you in ten days, and Matt decides to write an article on how to make a girl fall in love with you in ten days. And hilarity ensues. To be clear, neither character sees anything wrong with manipulating other people and negatively affecting their lives for the sake of a fluff piece. And this is why they're terrible people. In a way, they're perfect for each other.
