10 Rotten Tomatoes Scores For 2021 Movies NOBODY Saw Coming
1. Till Death (89%)
Yet somehow even more surprising than Eternals' wildly mixed response? The reaction to the Megan Fox-starring thriller released this past summer, Till Death.
Given that Fox's recent movie career has largely been defined by forgettable straight-to-VOD genre films, there wasn't much reason to expect anything different from this thriller about a woman who wakes up handcuffed to her dead husband.
And yet, critics tripped over themselves to praise the film, resulting in enough unexpected praise you couldn't be blamed for double-checking that 89% Tomatometer score.
Critics were highly enthusiastic about both director S.K. Dale's creative filmmaking on a clearly limited budget and Fox's genuinely strong performance, which many praised as by far the best of her career to date.
Till Death may be built from basic genre parts, but it's elevated by its sharp execution and a killer central performance, ensuring a film that seemed like just another low-rent, trashy streamer thriller was actually a taut calling card for all involved.
The lesson here? Don't judge a movie entirely by its marketing, because every so often one just might surprise you - in a good way, that is.
