10 Rotten Tomatoes Scores For 2021 Movies NOBODY Saw Coming
5. Venom: Let There Be Carnage (58%)
Considering that 2018's original Venom film scored a lousy 30% with critics, few were expecting more than an incremental improvement for the sequel Let There Be Carnage, even with the addition of Woody Harrelson as Carnage and Andy Serkis taking the directorial reins this time.
40-50% would've basically been a solid win for the follow-up, but Let There Be Carnage ended up settling on 58%, very nearly doubling the critical approval of its predecessor.
While hardly a genuinely good film, it at least had the good sense to lean into the Eddie Brock/Venom dynamic that was the easy highlight of the original, ensuring Tom Hardy was able to swing for the fences with a wildly physical comedic performance.
Fans agreed with critics that Let There Be Carnage marked a significant uptick in quality from the first film, enough that it leaves one mildly optimistic for the recently-confirmed third film, which if following the current trend could even end up Fresh.
