It’s hard to dislike a movie where a disembodied hand takes an unwholesome interest in Jessica Alba, and Idle Hands could’ve been a fun cult movie, but all of its ideas are (you guessed it) second hand.

When his hand takes on a life of its own, and lazy stoner Anton (Devon Sawa) realizes he can’t control it by taking up knitting, he performs a Bruce Campbell special with a meat cleaver and cauterizes the wound with his mom’s iron. He’s never seen Evil Dead II because now Mr Hand starts killing the supporting cast, including Anton’s best friends.

Fortunately, these guys have seen An American Werewolf In London, so they return as in-limbo zombies, not to haunt their friend, but to sit on his couch eating snacks and telling dick jokes. The filmmakers were probably saving their imagination for the soundtrack, where reggae rubs shoulders with punk and metal.

Top Tracks: Lionrock – Rude Boy Rock

Rob Zombie – Dragula

The Offspring – I Wanna Be Sedated (Ramones cover)
