10 Rules For Surviving Action Movies
9. Be Very Far Away From Retirement, Or At Least Don't Announce It
Action movies that involve somebody coming out of retirement always seem to have a lower mortality rate than those who openly announced that they plan on packing it in soon to spend some much-needed quality time with their loved ones.
Obviously, most of Danny Glover's character arc in Lethal Weapon was based around his impending retirement, but as soon as he decided to stay on the force his chances of survival were virtually guaranteed. On the flip-side of that coin, we've seen many supporting characters go to great lengths to tell anyone who'll listen how they can't wait to get out of the game, and most of them end up meeting their demise before too long.
There's a reason why a lot of buddy movies over the years have focused on a rookie way out of their depth, because you're much more likely to survive an action movie if the best years of career are way ahead of you, instead of muttering something about 'I was only one day away from retirement!' with your dying breath.
