10 Saddest Deaths In Horror Movie History
1. Nancy Thompson - A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
Another iconic horror series created by Wes Craven, A Nightmare On Elm Street is one of the major heavyweights within the slasher genre. Within a combined total of eight films (including the atrocious reboot), the razor-fingered Freddy Krueger chopped up a boastful 35 kills throughout his series.
Complete with a snappy one-liner and an imaginative way of dispatching his prey, watching Krueger (Robert Englund) work is always a joy. That was until the third entry in the series where original final girl Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) was finally bested by her old nemesis.
With Krueger targeting a new group of teenagers at a psychiatric hospital, it falls on Nancy, now a psychiatrist, to train them to control their dreams in order to defeat their would-be killer. However, during the climactic battle Nancy is mortally wounded by Freddy posing as her father, stabbing her in the gut.
Despite her injuries, Nancy is still able to stop Freddy from killing another innocent victim and hold him back long enough for her accomplice and colleague to give Freddy's remains a proper burial, putting an end to his massacre (until the next film, that is), proving Nancy is the ultimate slasher hero.
