10 Saddest Deaths In Horror Movie History

5. Georgie Denbrough - It: Chapter One

As I've already mentioned, nobody has mastered the human aspects of horror quite like Stephen King. Likewise, there hasn't been anyone able to make the death of a child as horrific (not even Von Trier), something that was shown in full terror in the opening of Andy Muschietti's It: Chapter One in 2017.

Although the iconic sequence was already ingrained in the nightmares of everyone who saw the original 1990 miniseries, the latest re-telling took things in an even more sinister direction as we watched little Georgie Denbrough's (Jackson Robert Scott) day get ruined when he stumbled upon child-eating clown Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård) in the sewer while sailing a paper boat on a rainy day.

Whereas Tim Curry's portrayal of the carnivorous clown from the miniseries was menacing in a charming way, Skarsgård channelled a full demonic nightmare as he lured the unsuspecting child into his clutches. Similarly, whilst the miniseries depicted the death through suggestive editing, the 2017 version pulled no punches. Not only did we see the clown sink his teeth into Georgie's arm, ripping it form the socket, we also had the displeasure of watching the screaming child dragged to his doom by an elongated arm.

If that's not upsetting, I don't know what is.
