David Carradine was a versatile and prolific actor from the famous Carradine dynasty. He worked in television and also across a wide genre of films, proving to be a great figure for cult movie fans to respect and idolise. His mysterious death in 2009 came as a great shock to Hollywood. Carradine was found hanging in a closet in a Bangkok hotel room. The death was recorded as asphyxiation - perhaps for auto erotic purposes, but definitely not suicide - two coroners attested to this. Carradine had married a lot of women in his life and immediately after his death, two of his ex wives came forward to testify about his kinky sexual practices. Lurid and distressing photographs of Carradine at the scene of death were circulated in the press and internet. Controversy broke out a year after Carradine's death with his widow Annie who decided to press charges against the film production company for which Carradine was working at the time of his death. She claimed Carradine had been left alone for a period in time, when it was written into his contract that he was not to be left unaccompanied. She reached a settlement with the company in 2011. A tawdry end for a great talent
My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
