8. Harry Potter And The Love Triangle Between Lockhart, Trelawney And Bellatrix Lestrange
It wasn't just the students caught up in the scandals off set.
Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh, Professors Trelawney and Lockhart respectively, married in 1989, but divorced six years later when his affair with his Frankenstein co-star Helena Bonham Carter was discovered.
Kenneth and Helena then entered a five-year relationship together before splitting in 1999. In the Order of the Phoenix book all three characters make an appearance at some point but on film, Branagh was written out at the end of the Chamber of Secrets before each of his exes appear in the franchise.
The trio faced the awkward situation that the three of them would be in reunited on screen for the first time since 1995, after the initial draft for the script included Lockhart's return to the franchise, which was present in the book however he is ultimately cut from the final version.
Whilst Emma Thompson and Helena Bonham Carter do show up at different points in the latter films of the series, they do not share any scenes together however Miss Thompson did go on record to forgive Helena for the affair that ended her marriage, saying the the break-up was "all blood under the bridge", adding:
"You can’t hold on to anything like that. It’s pointless. I haven’t got the energy for it. Helena and I made our peace years and years ago."
