This film has been receiving a lot of love (if that’s the term appropriate for this nail-biting gorefest) recently, and with damn good reason.

Inside, not the equally disconcerting new work of Bo Burnham, is a French home invasion movie like no other. Yes, The Strangers and You’re Next are bloody frightening, but this is just on a whole other level.

If Alien made pregnancy undesirable way back in 1979, Inside makes it seem like the worst thing in the entire world – and that’s without a single Xenomorph in sight! Well, aside from one particularly unpleasant nightmare sequence where she dreams that her baby bursts from her mouth like a good old chestburster.

The C-section scene is notorious, but the entire film as a whole is one upsetting ordeal after another, with tension so thick you could cut it with a pair of scissors… or a knitting needle.
