10 Scariest Horror Movie Clowns
1. Art - Terrifier
And yet, here we are. Despite Pennywise being one of the most indisputably terrifying clowns on screen, the number one spot isn't inhabited by Stephen King's creation, but that of Art the Clown from Terrifier and All Hallows Eve. Make no mistake, these films are pretty much trash compared to some of the cult classics and genre behemoths on this list, but Art's conception as a bloodthirsty, supernatural baddie that takes on the form of a friendly childhood performer is tough to match on visuals alone.
Appearing on halloween night in his little black and white outfit, it's Art's face that instantly stands out as abnormal - with exaggerated features that belie something not quite human lurking underneath.
His commitment to stalking his victims before mutilating them is deeply disturbing, with the silent, pantomime-esque performance he puts on only making everything that much more hellish. Art might be trapped in some bad filmmaking nightmare, but the execution and premise of his character still shine through ridiculously well, making him more than deserving of a little love. And fear.
