A deeper cut now with Michael Powell's legendary 1960 psychological horror film Peeping Tom, which revolves around deranged serial killer Mark Lewis (Carl Boehm), whose voyeuristic kink involves filming the various murders he commits.

His method of killing? Stabbing them with a blade concealed within the camera's tripod leg, but at film's end Mark reveals his pièce de résistance - a mirror mounted to the camera, forcing his victims to see their own deaths and in turn allowing him to capture their traumatised reactions.

In one of the film's many chilling images, we see the distorted reflection of his friend Helen (Anna Massey) as he places the blade to her throat.

Thankfully, though, he stops short of stabbing her, moments before the police intervene and Mark ends up taking his own life with the blade.
