10 Scariest Horror Movie Vampires

9. Jerry - Fright Night

Fright Night
Columbia

This, like From Dusk Till Dawn, falls closer to comedy horror than outright horror itself. However, that does not dull the overall effect of Chris Sarandon's Jerry Dandrige at all. The jokes are timed just far enough apart to keep him menacing without falling into high camp.

Sarandon would later become famous for his vocal skills - as the speaking voice of Jack Skellington. Here, he is on full show at his evil best, working his way through Charley Brewster's friends. This entry almost went to Charley's girlfriend Amy, who looks truly terrifying in her Vampire form, but it's Sarandon that nabs the spot as the source of it all.

Fright Night was a massive success on release, immediately being green lit for a sequel. However, tragedy struck. Fright Night Part 2, owned and distributed by Carolco Pictures, was unceremoniously given an extremely limited release when the chairman of Carolco, Jose Menendez, was murdered along with his wife by their two sons, Lyle and Erik. This also killed the hope for a third film as well.

Jerry has only appeared in this first film, though in 2017 original filmmaker Tom Holland announced his plans for a new sequel, as the rights were reverting back to him in 2019. While further announcements have yet to be made, seeing Jerry come back to haunt us one more time would be ever so sweet.
