10 Scariest Movie Moments Of 2019

8. IT: Chapter Two - Mrs Kersh

Pennywise Face
Warner Bros.

By all accounts, the second chapter of IT wasn’t as well put together as the first instalment, but was considerable scarier in exchange. This time, it focussed on the adult versions of the characters where the first offered spotlight to the kids. It sees each character facing up to their own fears, and in turn dealing with what Pennywise throws at them.

Despite not being one of the bona fide leads, Beverley gets the worst of the scares both in the books and in the movie. The bloody bathroom is one of the more intense moments in Chapter One, though isn’t necessarily scary. Bev’s big scare in Chapter Two though more than makes up for that.

Her scare comes through Mrs Kersh, a kindly old woman who invites Beverly in, though things quickly take a turn for the gross. The elderly woman undresses and begins to chase Bev, before morphing into an unholy evil as it’s revealed Mrs Kersh was IT the whole time.

One thing’s for sure, I think we’re all glad ‘that’ scene from the books didn’t make it in. You know the one I mean.
