10 Scariest Movie Moments Of 2019

7. Us - They're Us

It seems unfair to compare Us to Get Out, though that didn't stop everyone at the time. Having both been directed by Jordan Peele and both building off racial issues in America, the comparisons are certainly there to be had, but to do so ignores their vast differences.

Get Out was very much a lonely movie, with Chris completely isolated and therefore a vulnerable target. Us though centres around a family unit, and while it still conjures up that feeling of the wall caving in, it does so in a completely different way to Get Out.

Not so much a movie of huge scares, there's instead one central terror running through Us, and that's the fact the home invaders look exactly like the victims.

It's the sort of thing which might have lost its sting early on in a weaker story, especially as the trailers gave away that much, but the central mystery is fascinating and chilling in equal measure. It might not have gotten people screaming in their seats, but it was the type of scare which stayed with you long after the credits rolled.
