Over the past few years, filmmaker Johannes Roberts has made quite the name for himself in the horror genre.

With the likes of The Strangers: Prey at Night, The Other Side of the Door, and F under his belt, Roberts is likely best known for directing both 2017's 47 Meters Down and last year's 47 Meters Down: Uncaged - with the positive response to his movies being enough to land Roberts the job of directing the hugely anticipated big-screen reboot for the Resident Evil franchise.

That first 47 Meters Down was a taut affair, with Claire Holt and Mandy Moore left stranded in a shark cage on the ocean floor. But last year's follow-up picture? That was an even scarier proposition.

Taking clear inspiration from The Descent, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged conjured up the chill-inducing concept of being stuck in a shark-infested underwater Mayan city.

Making the most of this unique setting, Uncaged masterfully scares the pants off its audience by fully utilising the tight, small, restrictive tunnels and alcoves that this location offers up.

Trapped and with nowhere to go? While a great white shark lunges at you? That's the stuff of nightmares.
