10 Scariest Shark Movies!

4. The Shallows

Shark Night
Sony Pictures

Of all of the movies featured on this list, The Shallows is arguably the most well made of the bunch. It's also the most minimalistic movie of the lot, with this film basically coming down to Woman vs. Shark.

That woman in question is Black Lively's Nancy, who has sought solitude with the waves of the ocean as she looks to deal with the death of her mother several months prior. Seeking out a desolate beach on the coast of Mexico, what starts off as a relaxing surfboard session soon switches to a life or death scenario after Nancy gets attacked by a shark.

Finding safety in the form of a small piece of raised rock formation, Nancy is being battered by the weather conditions and her own blood loss, while her attacker prowls the stretch of water between Nancy and the shore.

What's scary about The Shallows is the sense of desperation that drips throughout so much of the movie, with the situation of Nancy becoming more and more precarious with every passing minute. That tide isn't going anywhere, and it's only a matter of time before the water level rises and thrusts Nancy into the water to face off with the great white shark that's been stalking her.
