As scary as Vivian infecting Luis in Dawn of the Dead was, at least we don't actually see the child get turned.
Spanish found footage movie [•REC] pulls no such punches.
Angela Vidal is a reporter following a group of firefighters around Barcelona for a news piece. Unfortunately for her, they'll be doing a lot more than just rescuing kittens from trees.
Angela, her cameraman, and the fire crew end up trapped in an apartment block after it becomes apparent that the residents have been infected with some sort of disease. One of the residents is Jennifer, a young girl with "tonsilitis".
Come on, you know where this is going.
Jennifer eventually turns in gruesome fashion, ripping part of her mother's face off before escaping into the building. Later on, she bites a police officer, turning him too.
A sweet young girl has no place in a scenario as evil as [•REC]. Her transformation into a zombie is as heart-breaking as it is unnerving, as you watch her relentless, rabid assaults on all those who try and capture her.
Also, children are scary enough as it is without turning into flesh-eating nasties.
