10 Sci-Fi Horror Movie Aliens That Make Space TERRIFYING

9. Laura

Scarlett Johansson Under The Skin
A24 Films

Adapted from Michel Faber's 2000 novel of the same name, but bearing few similarities beyond that, Under the Skin gave us Laura, an obsidian-black humanoid creature who kidnaps and harvests people and wears a suit of human skin.

While little is known about Laura, including what species she is, what planet she hails from and why she does any of the disturbing things she does, one thing is for sure: she doesn't paint a pretty picture of what lies waiting in outer space, or indeed what its inhabitants intentions are.

Hunting the coast, streets and clubs of Scotland for victims, Laura leads them to a run-down house where, instead of a one-night stand, they are encased in a liquid void and stripped of their innards. Lovely stuff.

Though Laura experiences a journey of self-reflection and personal development throughout Under the Skin, she and her kind are a predatory species with no respect for human life or liberty. Having said that, one or two of the humans in the film are, if anything, worse.
