These two franchises are the biggest staples in Sci-Fi without a doubt, and although they are utterly different, they have always faced comparison. Therefore why not finally bring the two products together? The result would without a doubt be the biggest crossover event in cinema history, even if it's terrible - which it likely would be.

Star Trek has played with the concept of alternate timelines before, and thus it could potentially move onto discuss the idea of different realities. Such a set-up could finally allow these iconic Sci-Fi staples to meet and possibly work together to battle against a force that threatens them both.

Ultimately it wouldn't matter what the storyline was, as the simple act of seeing the two settings collide would make for one of the most significant experiences that a cinema-goer could ever sit through.
