10 Sci-Fi Movie Moments That Literally Stopped Movies
3. Star Wars - Episode VIII: The Last Jedi - Casino Chaos
Not to add to the already unhealthy level of toxicity aimed at a film that is largely underserving of being classed as one of the most detested features in the series to some, but there is still one particular detour within The Last Jedi that holds the honour of being one of the most jarring sections of a Star Wars feature to date.
Part-way through the divisive flick, Finn, Rose, and BB-8 are sent on a covert mission to find a way to stifle The First Order's tracking device, with the enemy closing in on our heroes. This random subplot brings forth a whacky trip to a casino town by the name of Canto Bight, only for the gang to discover an untrustworthy hacker, known as DJ, and ultimately flee the scene with a little help from some children and a bunch of racing mammals. DJ then inevitably stabs the team in the back and the entire trip is rendered pointless.
Aside from showing off a swanky new locale, this subplot only really succeeded in pointlessly putting the brakes on a film that should've been hitting the hyperdrive.
