Crop circles. They're a hoax.

This universal symbol of aliens is, in reality, just a sign that a bunch of bored people have been running riot in a corn field.

Mysterious shaped laid out in crops are always linked back to people having a laugh, but that didn't stop M. Night Shyamalan from making these cereal-based tricks a big part of his 2002 movie Signs.

The film opens with Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) waking up to find his two children are missing. He chases them through the fields of his farm before coming across two huge circles that have been left in the maize. This symbol is repeated all over the world, harkening the arrival of an extraterrestrial species.

You could call them... Signs... sorry.

Whilst all rational thought tells you that this is just a movie playing with the idea that crop circles are caused by aliens, your mind can't help but wonder about the real thing.

What if crop circles aren't just a prank? What if they really are evidence that we've been visited by little green men?

They 100% aren't, but it's scary to think about.
