10 Sci-Fi Movie Sequels That Are Practically Flawless

1. The Empire Strikes Back

The Empire Strikes Back (or Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, for younger readers) is at the top or near the top of a lot of lists. Sci-fi sequels. Sci-fi movies. Movie sequels. Movies in general. You name it, its up there.

The middle entry in George Lucas' original trio of space operas, The Empire Strikes Back - directed by Irvin Kershner - continues the struggle of The Rebel Alliance against the wicked Galactic Empire, all whilst a Skywalker family drama bubbles away under the surface.

The iconic moments in this movie are far too many to try and list them all. The Battle of Hoth, Luke's training on Dagobah, the betrayal in Cloud City, the reveal of the Emperor, "I am your Father". It's all just so good! That last one alone is one of the biggest and most parodied moments in film history!

It's hard to fully comprehend just how game-changing The Empire Strikes Back was upon its release, because it just feels like it's never not existed. It is a part of pop culture's DNA, an integral piece of the modern human existence, and its impression will likely last for a long, long time.

Search your feelings; you know it to be true.
