10 Sci-Fi Movie Villains That Killed The Hero

7. Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Terminator Dark Fate John Connor Death

Throughout the events of Dawn of Justice, Lex Luthor's mistrust of Superman leads him to attempt to undermine the Kryptonian at every turn, even bombing the hearing regarding the events leading up to The Man of Steel's turbulent rescue of Lois Lane. His plan is simple, yet largely ineffective - to turn more and more public sentiment against the Kryptonian.

Devising a somewhat dubious contingency, Lex abducts General Zod's corpse from its holding facility and dunks it in a Kryptonian healing tank with a bit of his own human DNA, creating the not-Doomsday monstrosity in order to show the world what Superman really is - just another alien threat.

Though the two heroes make up and eventually do battle against the weird lumpy grey thing, Superman is forced to sacrifice himself by picking up a Kryptonite spear and allowing himself to get stabbed by the big ugly brute instead of, you know, just throwing it at him.

It's all a bit of a mess, but the point is that Luthor's monster ends up the downfall of the titular superhero, though he did manage to make him more of a martyr in the process.

Can't win 'em all, Lex.
