10 Sci-Fi Movies That Wasted Incredible Premises

9. Deja Vu

In Time
Buena Vista Pictures

Premise: A Special Agent (Denzel Washington) uses time travel to try and prevent a devastating ferry bombing.

This was a fantastic idea but unfortunately Deja Vu didn't quite work and it's more confusing than entertaining.

For all its promise, Deja Vu doesn't really go anywhere or do anything very much. There aren't many thrills, the film's central romance feels incredibly forced and it all just gets very silly, bewildering and illogical by the end. Even Denzel Washington is weaker than usual.

The late Tony Scott directed this. He was always an underrated director of action movies, but this will likely go down as one of his less successful works.
