10 Sci-Fi Movies That Wasted Incredible Premises

7. Underwater

In Time
20th Century Fox

Premise: A group of scientists face a near-impossible battle for survival against some mysterious underwater monsters after their underwater laboratory is destroyed by an earthquake.

Underwater does boast a fantastic concept and skilled cast but it's unfortunately it just never comes together and is one of the worst releases of 2020 so far.

It literally dives right into the central scenario with no build-up whatsoever and this kills any hint of substance or character development, while the scares get increasingly tedious and silly as they go along and the underwater monsters are just silly.

The cast do a fine job, aside from Jessica Henwick who proves she's just as bad an actor now as she was as one of the Sand Snakes in Game of Thrones, but other than that this one will sink without a trace in your mind as much as it sank at the box office.
