10 Sci-Fi Movies That Wasted Incredible Premises

4. Hot Tub Time Machine

MGM

Premise: A hot tub time machine at a ski resort sends four men (John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson and Clark Duke) back to the 1980s, where they must try and make sure that history is not changed.

Since this was a science-fiction comedy backed up with a strong concept, you'd have thought this would be a light-hearted good time but ironically enough it's actually an extremely annoying film that'll just really piss you off.

It has a strong cast but even they fail to lift up the film's unfunny, cliched and crude screenplay or smooth out the film's jarring shifts between immature R-rated comedy and overly sentimental time travel drama.

With over 200 F-bombs dropped in just over 90 minutes, this is one of the most foul-mouthed movies of recent times. It's a sad comment that that's pretty much the most interesting thing one can say about this tedious rip-off of Back to the Future, as well as many other, superior R-rated comedies.
