10 Sci-Fi Movies That Wasted Incredible Premises

3. High-Rise

Premise: A high-rise building in 1970s England descends into class warfare and chaos.

High-Rise is almost unwatchable.

A two-hour collection of surreal, nonsensical dream-like sequences that never come together in any coherent form, this is a movie with pretty much no plot and anything thought-provoking or intelligently satirical never emerges at all. High-Rise is like a really annoying, really boring nightmare, except it's not even particularly disturbing or thought-provoking.

The script and performances (despite the strength of the cast) are pretty terrible too. Ben Wheatley's direction is excellent, but that couldn't save this near train-wreck, which is easily Wheatley's worst film and one of the worst British films of recent times.
