10 Sci-Fi Movies That Were Way Too Complicated

7. Zardoz

The sight of Sean Connery in what is essentially the mankini from Borat should be enough to explain why this film is on the list.

In this bizarre post-apocalyptic world, what is left of humanity worships the titular stone God and its ability to grant eternal life. In reality, Zardoz is the creation of the Eternals; a group of affluent people who control the rest of the population through fear.

And that's where nearly-naked Sean comes in.

As Zed, Connery is out to level the playing field against the Eternals. He took the role to distance himself from Bond, and good Lord did he do that.

The film goes to great lengths to build the intricate social structure of the Eternals' world, but it loses a lot of pacing as a result. Trying to figure out who is who and who does what and why they do it takes up way too much time, distracting from the pretty simple revolution story.

Then there's the nature of Zardoz itself. That's a whole other kettle of fish and may or may not have something to do with The Wizard of Oz.

If you're after an easier viewing experience, you're better off with Goldfinger.
