10 Sci-Fi Movies Where The Humans Are The Bad Guys

4. Alien (1979)

Sure, sure, there's a highly evolved extra-terrestrial apex predator onboard the ship slowly picking off the crew and suspending them in sacs for the facehuggers to lay their eggs in... but is it the real enemy?

No. No, it's not.

The trillion-dollar spaceship Nostromo is run by a computer named Mother, who is the crew's link to their employers, the Weyland-Yutani corporation. As the alien lurks in the shadows gradually snatching away crew members, Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley gains access to Mother after the death of the captain, where she learns a horrible truth.

The company has ordered Ash, the ship's science officer later revealed to be an android, to capture the alien and bring it back to Earth - crew expendable. Clearly, they don't care about human lives, especially if they're willing to risk introducing a deadly acid-blooded beast into Earth's ecosystem for the sake of a few bucks.

In the film's sequels, the company's corporate greed is explored even further, showing yet again the heinous lengths they are prepared to go to to retrieve a living Xenomorph.
