10 Sci-Fi Movies You Must Never Pause
6. Dick Jones' Puppet - RoboCop
RoboCop is an awesome movie in every way that matters - it's at once a pin-sharp satire of unchecked corporatism, and a technically sublime, ultra-violent action flick.
And while Paul Verhoeven's stylishly over-the-top gore has left kids and adults alike wearing out the pause button, there's one scene you'll absolutely want to avoid lingering on in order to preserve your memory of RoboCop as a basically perfect film.
At the end of the movie, Murphy (Peter Weller) gets revenge on the Machiavellian OCP Vice President Dick Jones (Ronny Cox), shooting him enough times to send him flying out of the OCP HQ's high-rise window to his guaranteed death.
Unfortunately, the shot of Jones falling to the ground is terrible, to be kind. Some sort of dummy has clearly been composited into the shot in place of actor Ronny Cox, and in addition to the face not remotely resembling Cox's own, the arms are comically overlong compared to an actual human being's.
To make it worse, the dummy starts to fade out as it gets smaller, making the effect look even worse.
