10 Scrapped MCU Scenes We Desperately Wanted To See
7. A Woman Leaves Valkyrie's Bedroom - Thor: Ragnarok
Much has been said about the claim that Thor: Ragnarok's Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) is the MCU's first gay superhero, despite the fact that her appearances in Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame make no direct indication of this.
But Thompson actually convinced director Taika Waititi to shoot a brief moment where a woman is seen leaving Valkyrie's room, the implication of Valkyrie's sexuality being totally clear.
Better still, Thompson feels that Valkyrie's lover was one of her fellow soldiers slain by Hela (Cate Blanchett) in the film's hallucinogenic flashback sequence.
Yet Waititi ended up cutting the bedroom shot, reportedly because he felt it distracted from important exposition.
It's a damn shame, because Disney loves to pay lip-service to inclusiveness, yet continually refuses to depict LGBTQ superheroes on-screen.
With the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, however, Kevin Feige has promised that Valkyrie's sexuality will be a major plot point, with the character looking for a queen to share her life with. Don't screw it up.
