10 Scrapped Movie Sequels That Would Have Been Amazing
9. Roger Rabbit II: Toon Platoon
There are certain movies that are just doomed to broil in developmental hell, and it seems we can add the Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel into the fire. But this one really stings, because the multiple promises have always felt so real. Rob Minkoff, who directed The Lion King and Stuart Little, revealed during a press junket for his 2014 return to animated features (the underrated Mr. Peabody & Sherman), that he'd been tapped to bring a sequel to the big screen in the early 90s. Minkoff, who had just finished directing two Roger Rabbit shorts at the time, says the script he read had Roger travelling to Hollywood in search of his mother. Minkoff is far from the only person to be involved in variations of the project, with original director Robert Zemeckis repeatedly bringing up a possible sequel at every turn. It's almost as if he thrives on the hope and eventual sadness of the people who choose to believe him. With the drastic advancements made in technology over the last three decades, it would make for a very interesting visual palette, if nothing else. (But of course, there would be so much else. So, so much else.)
