10 Scrapped Video Game Movies We're Still Dying To See

1. Halo

Halo 4 Pc 600x3001 No scrapped video game breaks me heart as much, however, as Halo. The enormously popular game would without question have been box office dynamite; the game series has a gorgeous look, brilliant characters an intriguing premise, and the movie was ruined by the most basic of enemies - greed. Microsoft reportedly asked for an extremely high rate of royalties which caused many studios to swear the project off, before Microsoft finally worked something out with Fox and Universal. Our cockles were collectively jangled when it was announced that Peter Jackson would producing, though we were curious when the (at the time) untested Neil Blomkamp was approached to direct, even if he had directed a live-action Halo 3 advert prior. With the budget being a major point of contention, Fox and Universal bailed, and Blomkamp went on to direct the career-making District 9 for Jackson. Blomkamp has vowed never to return to Halo due to the time wasted developing it - though has since turned around on that - and even with rumours that Steven Spielberg is interested in collaborating on it, I can't see it ever happening. Even as guaranteed to profit as the movie is, Microsoft still can't get their damn ducks in a row and just play nice... Which video game movies do you want to see the most?
